FoodExpo
March 5th, 2008 Posted in After Arrival, NewsAfter vacuuming the FoodExpo for 4 nights in a row, we decided we wanted to have a look by day. The enterance was free, and they were handing out free food, so the reason we wanted to see it by day is quite obvious. So today we went to the expo, and we started checking our
Hall C at 14:00. This is the biggest hall, and I and the AgroSkolen girls cleaned this baby for 3 days on a row. I didn’t eat before we went to it, and that was a good idea. The free food was everywhere, nearly every stand in the exhibition had stuff to eat and taste. McCain was handing out new products, who clearly needed to be tested. And like this there were alot of stands. There was even one bakery stand who was handing out whole breads. After an hour we were filled up, and we went to hall H, the Beer hall. I came by car so not alot of beer for me, but it was again, free for all! After hanging out there for another hour we decided we could use some more food, in hall C. All the other halls were less interesting, because they were equipped with with hotel gear. We arrived at hall C again around 16:15 and the exhibitors were starting to clean up. The hall was going to close at 17. Now insanity really started. Alot of stands were clearly not planning to take any food back home. Suddenly I felt like I was in Africa. The exhibitors just said: take what you want, we don’t need it anymore. This fruit and vegetable stand was very popular for about 15 minutes. Everybody was grabbing what he thought he could carry home. It was like an african food depot, but with white people, less people, and no fighting. Meanwhile another stand, next to it, was emptying its freezers and refrigerators full of meat. Ofcourse I took my part of it. Our tiny freezer was already full, but it had to take some more like several meat snacks. Also we now got a bag of hot dog sausages of 2.5kg. Guess we’ll be eating some hot dogs in the upcomming days!
