The project finally got started I think. The PreProject (this is a report on what exactly you are going to make, and how you will do this) has been approved.

The Preface:

My name is Stefan Van der Straeten. I am a student in ICT-Electronics and I am making this project in an exchange student programme.

The project is about creating an E-Learning Portal Website for the school. This website will be used inside the school network. Teachers have the possibility to create online courses. These courses can have a description, chapters, external files, video tutorials,… The teachers can edit and delete all of their own input. Students will be able to see and follow those E-Learning courses.

Problem Statement:

E-learning is described as the new online learning system. The advantage of E-learning is that the students can study the courses on their own tempo, and whenever they want. In the E-Learning portal teachers can create courses. Each course can have a description and can be divided in several chapters. A discussion board will also be implemented, so students who have questions about a certain topic or chapter can ask their questions to other students and/or teachers. The content of the E-Learning portal will be protected with a login. The goal of this E-Learning Portal is to make all actions on the portal as intuitive and easy-to-use as possible. This goal reflects itself in every page and option on the website, from forms till design. One of the other stressed points is the video tutorials option. These tutorials should be easy-to-use for the students, and easy to upload for the teachers.

I have chosen to make interviews with several student and teachers. Tomorrow I will have the first interview with a teacher. Then I can have a better idea on what they want, and how they want it. Finally I feel like I started on the project. Month 1 is already passed. Only 3 more to go…
